YANGON:
Dengue fever has infected more than10,000
people in Myanmar in the first half of this
year,killing more than 40 people according
to the ministry of health Monday ,reports
China's Xinhua news agency,
The country's southeastern Mon state topped
with 2,182 cases followed by Ayayawaddy
and Yangon regions.
With Yangon registering the highest death
rate,there are about 200 to 250 dengue fever
cases reported daily across the country,
An anti dengue fever project official said
the outbreak of the mosquito-infected viral
disease is on an annual increase despite preventive
and control measures being taken on a nation
wide scale,
The ministry is calling for intensive preventive
measures in the current rainy season when the
outbreak of such epidemic disease in Myanmar
is common,
Myanmar reported more than 13,000 dengue
fever cases in 2014 but 20,000 in 2013
