KUALA LUMPUR: Police nabbed five of their own during a raid on an illegal gambling den in Taman Bandaraya Kuchai, here, on Thursday.
The 2.15pm operation, codenamed Op Dadu, was carried out by the federal police Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (ISCD) following information received on policemen frequenting the frequenting the premises.
Sources told the New Straits Times that four of the policemen arrested were attached to the Petaling police station, while another was attached to the Brickfields district police headquarters.
Two of them were ranked corporal, two lance corporal, while another was a constable.
"The raid was conducted by a team of Bukit Aman ISCD officers, who are joined by an officer from Brickfields police headquarters D7 Division (anti-vice, gambling and secret society), and a police photographer.
"When the team raided the premises, three of the policemen were found gambling there while two others were visiting.The team also arrested an Indonesian man, who works as the den's caretaker, two Indonesian women who work as his assistants, and a 39-year-old man who was gambling there."
Police also seized 23 sets of computer, two units of Internet modem, and RM816 during the operation.
The case is being investigated under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, and Section 6(1)(C) and Section 15(1)(C) of the Immigration Act.
