KUALA LUMPUR: A sales manager of a hotel pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate’s Court today to a charge of threatening to cut off the penis of his friend’s husband last month.
How Huat Kim, 32, was alleged to have sent the threat via a text message to the mobile phone of Phua Choo Hua, 35, when she was in his office at a hotel in Jalan Walter Grenier here at 6.30 pm on Sept 29.
He was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail sentence of seven years, or a fine, or both upon conviction.
In mitigation, counsel Zaidi Othman requested the court to reduce the RM5,000 bail proposed by DPP Najwa Bistamam.
Magistrate Erry Shahriman Nor Aripin allowed bail at RM2,500 with an additional requirement, that the accused was prohibited from approaching and disturbing Phua and her husband.
The court set Nov 9 for mention. – BERNAMA
