Police have blocked off several main roads into and out of the city centre and towards Tanjung Lipat, “to avoid traffic congestions”.
Police also taped off at least four entry points into the waterfront stretch as early as 6am but allowed those on foot to proceed.
Sabah Bersih 4 organising committee chairman Jannie Lasimbang said the plans for the walk is on pause for now until more supporters show up.
She said police have also started investigations into the key organisers of the rally, deemed illegal.
“They’re asking people here for their details, MyKad numbers, but have not said much else,” Jannie said.
Last night, some 50 people stayed overnight at the park venue, some in tents while others were content to sleep under the canopy on tarpaulins.
Small groups of Bersih 4 supporters, clad in yellow, were seen walking on foot past the roadblocks along the empty roads of Tanjung Lipat.
