KUALA LUMPUR;

Anwar Ibrahim will be automatically disqualified
as a Member of Parliament from Tuesday as PKR
will not be seeking royal pardon for his release

This new development indicates that the  Permatang
Pauh by election is on the cards

PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli told the media
on Monday that the party would not seek royal pardon
for Anwar's release, nothing that there was no instruction
from the Opposition Leader to do so

The Permatang Pauh incumbent had 14 days from the
date he was convicted and sentenced for sodomy to
file a petition for pardon but has not made any move
so far

On February 10,the Federal Court threw out Anwar's
appeal against charges of sodomising his former aide
Saiful Bahari Azlan in 20o8,and upheld his five -year
jail sentence

Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia
had said that it would only inform the election commission
of the vacancy for the Permatang Pauh parliamentary
seat once Anwar's disqualification as an MP takes
effect

Under clause 4 Article 48 of the Federal Constitution
Anwar's disqualification as an MP only takes effect
after 14 days from the date he was convicted and
sentenced

Senior official expelled from party'

BEIJING;

China's Communist Party dismissed a top
political advisory official and expelled him
from the ranks of the ruling party, its anti
corruption watchdog said Monday,as the
country mounts a sweeping crackdown on graft.

Su Rong 66 ,a vice chairman of the Chinese
People 'sPolitical Consultative Conference (CPPCC)
was investigated for "serious"discipline violation"
according to a statement on the commission 's
website.

The CPPCC is a discussion body that is part of
the Communist Party-controlled government
structure.

The probe found that Su had taken advantage of
his position to seek benefit for others, accepted
huge bribes and abused power leading to significant
loss of state assets ,the statement said.without
giving further details.

Graft has become endemic in China and Communist
leader Xi Jinping launched a much publicised drive
against corruption after he came to power  two years
ago, vowing to target both high-level "tigers' and
low -ranking "flies".

Su was described as "one of the graft "tigers" in
a two paragraph report by the official Xinhua news
agency announcing the expulsion.

But analysts say China has failed to implement
institutional safeguards against corruption ,such
as an independent judiciary and free media,
leaving anti-graft campaigns subject to the
influence of politics.

Previous reports in Chinese media have connected
Su to corrupt land deals made in Jiangxi  province
during his time as party secretary there.

Su's case will soon be transferred to judicial
authorities for criminal prosecution.in the
statement said.

"Previously Su was also the Communist Party
secretary of Qinghai and Gansu  provinces.

KUWAIT CITY.

Kuwait Oil Minister Ali al Omair  said
Monday that world crude prices have
recovered faster than expected and
that recent gains will likely hold.

"Oil prices have improved faster than
Omair told reporters.I think it will last..
it started holding gains now and hopefully
,in the second part of 2015 ,we will see better
prices"the  minister said.

Crude has been on a rollercoaster  for the
past two weeks after prices fell by around
60 percent between June and January .
After plumbing lows of close to $40 a barrel,
internasional benchmark Brent North Sea
crude for April delivery rallied to $61.19
last week.

Market sentiment has been bolstered by cuts
in output by North American shale producers
that have raised expectations of reduction in
the current supply glut.

Omair said that reports from the Organization
of the Petroleum Exporting Countries suggested
that excess supply was being reduced more
quickly than expected.

Surplus production is definitely lower'than
the 1.8 million barrels per day thatOPEC and
other agencies had estimated during the past
few months ,he said.

Cops say girl, 16, is not yet a Muslim

Kota Kinabalu: Police have confirmed that the 16-year-old Christian SMK Kinarut student who is alleged to have been converted to Islam by the school's warden is not yet a Muslim, although practising a Muslim lifestyle.
"This is because she is still a minor and under the Constitution, parents have the right to determine the faith of their children," a police spokesperson told Daily Express.
He added that the matter should be solved amicably between the parents and the school and that NGOs should not interfere, adding that police are not involved in the tussle over guardianship of the minor.
"This is between the parents and the school. The police have nothing to do with this. In fact, the case is very simple. The father should just sign a consent letter allowing his daughter to stay in the hostel if that is what he wants. This has nothing to do with the police," the police spokesperson said, when contacted, Wednesday.
He said the 16-year-old student had lodged a police report because she was scared her father would beat her if she went home and the villagers would shun her for had happened.
When police asked if she was forced to make the report, the girl said she was doing so willingly. "Of course we are also concerned if she would be beaten."
Meanwhile, Kawang Assemblyman Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar said he and Papar MP Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin would visit the family in Kg Kaiduan later this week.
"I am deeply concerned that this is happening right in our backyard. I would like to show our support to the family who, I am sure, is under severe stress right now.
"This is totally unbecoming of our multi-racial and multi-religious community. We must submit to the Constitution, which state that only parents have the right on their underage children," he said.
The student was alleged to have been converted by her hostel warden late last month and the family only found out about it when she came home during school break, donning a tudung, a Muslim headscarf.
A few days prior to it, a message had gone viral on WhatsApp, purportedly written by a teacher of the same school, asking recipients to pray for the girl as she was about to become a Muslim.
Meanwhile, the father of the girl confirmed he would be suing the school over the matter so that other non-Muslim parents nationwide would forever not have to go through such an ordeal.
Jilius Yapoo, a 46-year old rubber tapper from Kg Kaiduan, said the school needs to take responsibility for what happened as teachers in the school colluded to prevent his children from even meeting him.
The school's Principal had claimed that she was in the dark as to what was going on, in relation to the alleged conversion.
"If I do not take any action, the same thing will happen again in the future and other people's daughters and sons will become the next victims. They should not have kept me in the dark over my daughter's alleged conversion," he said when met here, Wednesday.
The father of eight had gone to his daughter's school, SMK Kinarut, early Wednesday morning to fetch his daughter after the school's administration informed him that the girl and her three younger siblings would be allowed to go home to visit their sick mother.
However, when he reached the school at 8.30am, he was informed that he could not pick up his children as they would have to be in school to study for upcoming exams.
Yapoo, who was accompanied by his church's pastor James Mojikon and Angkatan Gabungan Rakyat Asli Sabah (Agaras) President Michael Frederick, was also told that the daughter is now under police protection and it was up to the police to determine whether she could go home or not.
The girl, apparently, had lodged a police report stating that she was afraid that her father would beat her and the villagers will shun her if she goes home.
The group was then made to wait for the police by the school, who said a team was on the way, to solve the matter.
About an hour passed, and after there was no sight of the police, even though the police station is only a few minutes away from the school, Yapoo told the teachers he was going to get a drink at a nearby restaurant.
"When I went back to the school about 15 minutes later, they immediately asked me where I have been because the police had just left and they were looking for me," related Yapoo.
In the end, the school relented and agreed to let the students go. The family however did not get too far before they were intercepted by teachers in Kinarut town and brought the students back to the school.
Confusion soon ensued and Yapoo left the school compound and was made to wait for his children in town together with Mojikon and Frederick.
The group waited for another hour before Yapoo finally received a message from his eldest daughter who told him that they will be sent home by their teacher, but the same teacher will be picking them up again on Thursday at their house in Kg Kaiduan at 2pm.
The stunned father took a few seconds to compose himself before expressing his concern about what more the teachers would be saying to his children in the car.
"I am very disappointed at this turn of events. I have come here with the idea that I would be able to take my children and bring them home. I do not understand why I am not given that freedom when I am the parent here.
"I wonder what else the children will hear from their teachers on the way back home. I only want to talk to my daughter," he said.
Their mother, he said, had been very worried and sad about their daughter to the point that she had refused to eat for quite some time now.
"Usually, she would cook for us and we will eat together. But now, I always eat alone. Whose heart will not break?" he asked.

STAFFORD:

United Kingdom: ;The protesttents are being taken
down but resentment burns on in Stafford ,where
the hospital is a notorious example of a health-care
crisis roilling Britain ahead of May's general election.

The maternity and paediatrics units have been moved
to another town ,the emergency ward has to shut down
at night because of budget cuts and medical workers
are up in arms about too much work and too little pay.

Staff are on their knees said Karen Howell ,a nurse
in this former industrial town in central England
who helped set up a protest camp in the hospital
grounds and is cmpaigning with a new political
party.

The national Health Action Party is fielding a total
of 12 candidates at the election-most of them nurses
and doctors in the National Health service Britain's
state founded system of free universal healthcare.

Set up in 1948.the NHS is a source of pride
for many Britain and a constant headache for
politician .It was once described as the nearest
thing  the English have to a religion by  Margaret
Thatcher's finance minister  Nigel Lawson.

The NHS crisis is thecrown jewel, you don't
touch it said Howell.
The  NHS crisis has been particularly acute
this winter, with several emergency wards declaring
a major incident because they cloud no longer
cope with new patients and bed blockers-
elderly patients who are too infirm to go home
but not sick enough for hospital.

A GUILTY VERDICT COULD BACKFIRE,WARNS ANWAR IBRAHIM.

KUALA LUMPUR;

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said
Wednesdaythat any move to jail him next
week on controversial sodomy chargers could
backfire against Putrajaya.

The apex court is to deliver a final decision
on Tuesday on Anwar's appeal against a
spdomy conviction and five year-jail term handed
down last year.

A guilty verdict could effectively end the
67 year -old 's career,removing the key
player in an opposition coalition that has
one of the world's longest-ruling government
on the run.

Anwar stopped short of calling on supporters to
take to the streets.
Anwar has long dismissed the charge that he
sodomised a young male former-aide.
He calls it part of a long -running  effort by the
58year-old government  to kill his political career
and decapitate the opposition.

Anwar said ,he was cautiously optimistic 'about
the court decision, adding his lawyers had
thoroughly disproved the charge in appeal
hearings before the Federal Court last year.

NETANYAHU DENIES WIFE POCKETED FROM RETURNED BOTTLES

JERUSALEM:

Israel's prime Minister Binjamin NEtanyahu
on Friday dismissed as false reports that his
wife Sara had pocketed at least $1,000 worth
of public money by returning empty bottles
to supermarkets.

The reports which were cause ridicule in local
media, come as the head of the right wing Likud
party prepares to seek re-election in a snap
March vote.

In a long Facebook post; Netanyahu hit out "false"
accusations against me and my wife that seek  to
topple the Likud and bring the left to power".

Earlier this week, reports emerged that Sara
Netanyahu had during her husband bands second
term as prime minister collected a vast amount
of empty bottles bought by the premier's office
and returned them to the supermarkets, pocking
the money herself.

Overall years ,the Netanyahus through this practice
earned at least 4,000 shekels ($1000,885 euros)
of what should have been public money ,the report
said.

But Haaretz also cited a former employee of the
Netanyahus as saying that the figure was in fact
thousands of shekels higher. The matter is being
turned over to Israels attorney general's office
Haaretz said.

Local media were quick to ridicule Sara.
Haaretz  published a cartoon featuring her sitting
in her living room, surrounded by empty bottles
and pointing at a TV showing the latest frontier
flare-up between Israel and Lebanese militant
group Hezbollah.

Pro-Netanyahu freesheet Israel Hayom slammed
the reports as "defarmation"as the country's political
parties prepared for the campaign trail.

The snap vote on March 17 will pit Netanyahu's
Likud and other possible rightwing allies against
a united centre -left front that includes forther
justice minister Tzipi Livni's Hatuah and the
Labor party.   AFP>
