SYDNEY:

Islamic State group fighter said Monday she
was "devastated " that police had refused to
help bring her five grandchildren home from
Syria,

Karen Nettleton 's daughter Tara is married
to Khaled Sharrouf ,who gained global infamy
last year when he posted pictures of himself
and his seven years old son on Twitter holding
up the severed heads of soldiers,

News emerged last week  that Sharrouf may
have died in the same drone attack believed
to have killed fellow Australian jihadist
Mohamed Elomar,raising concerns about
what would happen to his children who were
taken to Syria last year

"My advice to the family is to engage with
the proper legal authorities and not to conduct
this discussion through the media,Immigration
Minister Peter Dutton said on Wednesday.

"I think that the Australian Federal Police (AFP)
is the natural touch point for the family,I think
they need to engage with the AFP and talk about
what options there might be"

But Sydney grandmother Karen Nettleton said
she had been in contact with the police over a
period of months beginning last year about
bringing home the children now age four and
14

They were saying they would look into helping
us getTara and the children out of Syria "she told
the Australian Broadcasting Corporation,

But she added that they suddenly changed their
attitude ,and concluded they were unable to help
her ,

"I was talking to one  of the agencies and I was
told that they wouldn't be able to help us Nettleton
said,I was  "devastated",because ,who else do you
go to get your children out of a place like that,
I certainly can't go there and get them

SEOUL"
South Korea on Sunday reported it's 32nd
death from Mers as the virus 's mortality
rate continued to rise even as the pace of
the outbreak appeared to slow,

A 55 year old man died Saturday of Middle
East Respiratory Disease, the health ministry
said putting the latest mortality  rate at 17 percent

That is up from 15 percent a week ago and
percent two weeks ago, though still lower
than the World Health Organization figures
which put the mortality rate for the disease
at around 36 percent,

The man was diagnosed on June 9 after
contracting the virus at Samsung Medical
Centre in Seoul --the epicentre of the out
break where about 90 patients visitors and
medical staff had been infected.

The total number of the infections remained
unchanged at 182 and fifteen patients were
in critical condition ,the health ministry said,

The total of 91 have recovered and have been
released from hospital including one on Sunday
according to the ministry.

The outbreak started on May 20 when a 68
year-old man was diagnosed after returning from
a trip to Soudi Arabia

Since then the potentially deadly virus for which
there is no vaccine-- has spread at an unusually
rapid pace in the Asia's fourth -largest economy
becoming the largest outbreak outside Soudi
Arabia and sparking public alarm at home and
elsewhere in Asia.

On August 16 2012 after days of violent

Sao Paulo has banned production and sale

city are fuming

Mayor Fernando Haddad said to like the
delicacy himself signed a decree instituting
the ban, disappointing cooks who had hoped
he would veto the bill passed in May by the
city hall

The dish was banned on grounds of cruelty
to geese that are fattened up to provide
the liver that is the stuff of foie gras,

But Renato  Carioni ,chef at a restaurant

Stockholm rape clinic open doors to male victim

STOCKHOLM:
A Stockholm rape clinic  will  open its doors
in October to male and transgender victims
in addition to the women it already treats as
sexologist at the clinic said Wednesday;

"What's new is that the clinic will now be opens
to any person ,regardless of what gender they
are, needing help conerning  sexual abuse and
or rape"sexologist and project manager Karl
Norwald at the Sodersjukhuset hospital where
the clinic is located ,told AFP

He said he hoped the clinic's new policy would
help destigmatise male rape and encourage more
male victims to seek both physical and psycholoical
help.

"We hope and will work for all the major hospital
to treat sexual abuse regardless of gender-- men
and women should be treated equally ",said Suzanna
Boman ,a psychotherrapist at the Swedish Association
for Sexuality Education

The subject of male rape remains taboo in society
she lamented,It is very hard  for men to speak to
be  believed, In the past three  or four years RFSU
has helped provide treatment for around 40 male
victims of sexal abuse'

According to Boman and Norwald ,studies show
that men are more traumatised than women by
sexual abuse ,

That image has deep roots in our culture ,If you
are a man you are strong, a fighter and you can't
be raped",

But the fact that we begin to talk about it is one
way to kill the myth"she said,According to the
Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention
around 370 of the 6,700 victims of reported rape
in Sweden in 2014 were men or boys,

The organisation said the data was probably only
the tip of the iceberg ,estimating that only 10 to 20
percent of sexual assaults were actually reported
to police--

NOSTALGIA MALAM PENGANTIN

Dulu dulu pasangan yang baru dijab kabul
malu malu  kucing memasuki kamar pengantin
Makumlah masing masing tidak pernah bersua
muka sebelum ini,

Pembuka bicara biasanya dengan berpantun
seloka,sambil memuji muji kenindahan bulan
dan bintang desir angin,dan sebagainya,
Keadaan sekarang jauh berbeza.....

Ketika menikmati bubur durian di pasar malam
seorang rakan sekerja bertanya,Apa kah yang
menjadi kenangan yang paling manis di malam
pertama pengantin?Hampir sahaja tersembur
bubur durian didalam mulut!Setelah suku abad
berkahwin ,apakah soalan tersebut masih releven?

Katanya ,malam pengatin ada lah detik paling
istemewa,paling mendebarkan ,Walau seribu
tahun berlalu nostalgia itu tetap melekat di hati
dan tidak salah untuk sekali sekala di kenang
kembali,fuhhii,

Tidak kira mains  atau pun pahit--mungkin
juga pahit pahit manis---nostalgia tetap ada,
Saya percaya setiap orang mempunyai kenangan
tersendiri  menganai malam pertama setelah
menggangam erat tangan jurunikah and melafazkan
"Aku terima nikanya"

Cinta sejati mesti dibutikan sekarang!

Apatah lagi sekiranya mendapat suami

Bagaimana pun ,sebagai isteri,pastinya
menyediakan hidangan menjadi salah
satu tanggungjawab yang perlu dilaksnakan
Biarpun tidak begitu enak ,namun usaha untuk memasak

Japan executes murderer who battered a woman

TOKYO
Japan on Thursday executed  a man who robbed
and killed a woman after plotting the crime with
accomplices he met online,

The execution brings to 12 the total number of
death sentences carried out since Prime Minister
Shinzo Abe took power in 2012
Tsukasa Kanda 44 was hanged for killing 32 year
old Rie Lsogai in Nagoya,central Japan in 2007;

He met his two accomplices  via a mobile phone
based web service and the three of  them together
devised a plan to target a random woman victim.

The man kidnapped Isogai  from a Nagoya street
and suffocated  her  by wrapping her head and
neck with a plastic bag, adhesive tape and rope
before battering her head with a hammer, according
to Justice Ministry record,

This was an extremely brutal case that brought
unimaginable suffering to the victim and her family
,Justice Minister Yoko Kamikawa told a press
briefing after the execution, the first since she
came to office in October last year,

"After a series  of careful reviews ,I ordered the
execution "she said'
Kanda did not appeal his death sentence after the
original district court ruling .

Japan and the United State are the only major advance
industrial nations that continue to have capital
punishment,
Surveys have shown the death penalty has overwhelming
public support despite repeated protests from European
governments and human rights groups,

International advocacy groups say Japan's system is
cruel because inmates can wait  for their executions
for many years in solitary confinement and are only told
of their impending death a few hours ahead of time,

Barak Obama urges US to re-examine gun culture

WASHINGTON

Barak Obama clearly angry ,but mainly
frustrated ,Once again he was speaking
out after a murderous shooting spree, and
once again he found himself powerless
to act,

This time the pain was personal ,The US
president knew the pastor at the black
church in South Carolina who was cut
down along with eight of his flock in an
apparently racist attack.

But his anger was made all the worse by
the knowledge that none of the previous
series of mass shootings on his watch  have
pushed fellow Washington politicians to act
I"ve  had to make statements like this too
many times " he said in brief remarks from
the White House podium, flanked by an
equally ashen-face Vice President Joe Biden

Once again innocent people were killed in
part because some one who wanted to inflict
harm had no trouble getting their hands on
a gun:"he complained.

Mass shootings  are not a uniquely American
phenomenon but culturally similar countries
like Australia and Britain tightened gun laws
after massacres ,and seem to have saved lives

Many in the United States see the Second
Amendment to the Constitution,which  protests
the right of citizens to bear arms ,as a bar to
any limitation  on gun ownership'

"Now is time for mourning and for healing
,but let's be clear; At some point we as a country
will have to reckon with the fact that this type
of mass violence does not happen in other
advance countries ,Obama said.

"It doesn't happen in other places with this kind
of frequency .And it is our power to do something
about it,It was telling that he used the phrase
"Our power"after seven years and a half a dozen
massacres ,Obama knows that his power alone
will not be enough to change the debate.

In 2013 after December 2012 slaughter of 26
people -including 20 young children --at a
Connecticut school ,Obama took 23 executive'
decisions to tweak gun rules,

The public was briefly in a state of shock and
some commentators thought a turning point
had been  reached ,but an attempt to bring a broad
gun control  bill to Congress failed,

SPIELBERG  AUSTRIA,

Red Bull face the prospect of an embarrassing
,if not humiliating week end on home soil
at the Austrian Grand Prix where the owner
Dietrich Mateschitz on Thursday lambasted
engine suppliers Renault and threatened to
leave the sport.

The Red Bull owner, usually shy of publicity ,
launched a stinging attack on Renault and
charged them with demotivating the team as
it was announced that both drivers Australian
Daniel Ricciardo and Russian Daniil Kvyat, will
suffer 10 place grid penalties for having two more
new engines installed,

The engines are their fifth each of the season and
exceed the quota of four for the year a limit they

of horse-power,What else has to our happen?
That we will lose our motivation cmpletely"?

and roared at various  intervals all season, but

SEOUL:
South Korea Monday reported its 16th death
in an expanding MERS outbreak ,as President
Park Geun Hye called for efforts to shore up
the economy  against what she called "excessive
public alarm

Seoul also declared  five new patients ,bringing
the total number of cases including the deaths
to 150,as fears grew over the impact  of the
outbreak on Asia's fourth largest economy,

Park, whose popularity  has plunged due to the
crisis ,urged efforts to minimise the damage
to the economy,saying consumer spending
had dipped and the number
  of foreign tourists had plunged,

"It is important to prevent the spread of
excessive public anxiety and allow normal
economic activities to resume quickly",
More than 100,000 foreigners have cancelled
trips to Seoul since the beginning  of June and
more are expected to follow suit ,Seoul's vice
tourism minister warned Monday,

About 14.2 million foreigners or about 11
million a month on average visited the country
last year A 58 year old man who had been

North Korea soldier defects across land border ( VIDEO)

SEOUL
A young North Korean soldier walked into
South Korea Monday a rare defection through
one of the world's most fortified frontiers,
saying he deserted his camp because of
habitual beating ,military officials said

The 19 year old soldier surrendered himself
to South Korean border guards around 8 am
(2300 GMT) after crossing  the frontier in
Hwacheon ,northeast of Seoul the South's
defence ministry said,

The North Korean soldier told investigators
that he had decided to defect "because of habitual
beating at his camp while harbouring
complaints about the reality of his homeland
"the spokesman added.

The defection sparked at tense stand -off
between North and South Korean border guards
across the four kilometre wide and 248 kilometre
long demilitarised  zone(DMZ) but there was
no conflict ,the Yonhap news agency reported,,
The man identified himself as a private ,the
lowest rank among the North's enlistees it said.

Hundreds of North Koreans flee their isolated
homeland each year but it is rare for defectors
to cross the land border, marked by barbed  wire
and guarded by tens of thousands of troops on
both sides,

Despite its name ,the DMZ separating the two
Koreas, which remain technically at war,is one
of the world most heavily militarised frontiers
,bristling with watch-towers and landmines,

Most North Koreans who fee repression and
poverty at home cross the porous frontier with
China before travelling through a Southeast Asian
nation and eventually arriving in South Korea,

So far about 28,000 North Koreans have resettled
in the South since the end of the 1950-53 Korean
war mostly after the great famine in 1990s

Under Kim ,the isolated  state has tightened
border security ,while China has launched a
crackdown on the North Korean escapees on
its side of the border.

China ,the North 's sole major ally ,typically
considers them illegal economic migrants and
repatriates them despite criticisms  from human
rights groups,

Many face severe punishment including rights
monitors say ,torture and  term in a prison camp
once they are sent back to the North

Maritime sovereignty compromised due to govt neglect ( VIDEO)

MANILA:
The country maritime sovereignty and security
have been compromised many times over due
to decades of neglect and indifference by past
political leadership according to a military paper;

A 40 -page military study a copy of which was
obtained by The Star, noted that because of this
neglect the country's external and territorial
security have been in a woeful and pathetic state
especially in terms maritime capability.

It stressed that the Philippines is a coastal  or
archipelagic nation and the world 's second
largest archipelago ,next to only to Indonesia
It has the fifth longest coastline totaling 36-289
kilometers.

On top of this ,the country is strategically positioned
In East Asia where the world's most important
navigational sea lanes crisscross one another

The nation also sits astride major shipping routes
between the Americas and Southern China and
Southeast Asia ,as well as between northern
Australia and the Lombok Straits and Northeast Asia.

Unfortunately ,the country lacks maritime security
and infrastructure and has failed to check and secure
around 70,000 international vessels traversing year
round the  Luzon Straits and Malaca Straits and the
waterways in the Sulu Sea the paper said

Aside  from the 55 percent of Indian trade to East
Asia 95 percent of Japanese oil requirements from
the Middle East and 90 percent of the world 's trade
pass the country 's waters every year.

Against this backdrop ,it is surprising that the
Philippines has the most inward- looking and
myopic outlook in the region in relation to its
maritime environment

"Internally and externally ,the nation is fraught
with serious maritime issues but government
priorities are clearly misplaced" the paper said,

In spite of its enormous natural wealth there
exists a misunderstood "culture poverity"
This lamentable situation of Philippines
maritime security can easily be traced to the
attitude of its past leaders and policy -makers
in their understanding and appreciation of
geography.

"The leaders are focused on their respective
areas, which means that although they may
embark on improving their respective ports
,hardly any would think of the inter-connectivity
of their areas ,much less think of the entire
national in a maritime context "the paper said

This  attitude keeps legislators entrusted with
"THE POWER of THE  PURSE"from looking
at the national perspective and coming to grips
with the reality"it said.

Highway have high amounts of deadly black carbon (VIDEO)

MANILA:

Pedestrians and traffic enforcers remain
exposed to the lethal amount of cancerous
black carbon in some parts of Edsa highways,

Reynaldo Razalan 64 has been traffic enforcer
for the last 20 years ,He stands under the Shaw
Boulevard  flyover ,with nothing but a make
shift mask to protect him from the elements
Razalan  said  that he had the mask made for
him using his own money ,Not all traffic
enforcers like to use the  mask, but in his 20
years of service he prefers it.

Smoke belching is common in Edsa, especially
by  public utility vehicles
Some times cars would even pass by they press
the gas and belch smoke into our face, before
driving away.

In addition to rude drivers,Razalan tells the
story of a colleageue whom ,after becoming
a traffic enforcer,developed asthma

The Shaw Boulevard underpass and the Ayala
underpass having alarmingly high rates,based
on data collected by Dr Gerry Bagtasa,an
internationally renowned atmospheric physicist
,who measured black carbon levels along Edsa,

In his studies he found out that back carbon
in other countries range from 1 to 10 micrograms
per cubic meter ,

In the contrast ,measurements in Edsa ,particularly
at the Ayala Station of  the MRT  and the Shaw
Boulevard underpass,can reach 1,000 micrograms
per-cubic meter-well beyond the acceptable standed

Its fr this reason that Bagtasa dosn't allow his
daughter to play outside during peak hours of
traffic in metro Manila He fears for his own daughter
who like many other children is sensitive to
air quality,
Warned about the immanet threat of cancer
Ranzalan was not surprised  to the problem
