I won’t defame Dr Mahathir, says former SB deputy director

Former Bukit Aman's Special Branch deputy director Datuk Abdul Hamid Bador today has denied he will lodge a police report against former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad over the controversy surrounding 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
"I have so much respect for him. I will be damned and sent to hell for eternity if I were to defame him. My parents' will cringed in their graves if I did this," said Abdul Hamid to The Malaysian Insider tonight.
This followed a text message being circulated via WhatsApp claiming he was going to file a report against Dr Mahathir since this morning.
The message claimed he would lodge the report after the Friday prayer tomorrow.
"It's all garbage. Whoever did this is an idiot. I have so much respect for the man. He is my idol," said Abdul Hamid.
He said that the message could have been created to deviate people's attention on the real issue.
"It's tactical diversion," he said.
On whether or not he would be holding a press conference, Abdul Hamid was no committal, saying that it would be decided later.
He also said that he has yet to decide whether or not to accept the new post at the Prime Minister's
Department.
Abdul Hamid was transferred to the PM's Department after weeks of ongoing rumour that he will be transferred out.
" I have until September 17 to decide," he said. – August 20, 2015.
