Topple Najib plot a ‘creative’, last gasp bid by Umno’s enemies, minister says

KOTA KINABALU, Aug 18 — Umno’s enemies may be “creative” but are clutching at straws with their latest attempt to bring down the Najib administration through sworn oaths from lawmakers to move a no-confidence vote in Parliament, Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said today.
The Barisan Nasional (BN) strategic communications director added that he was unsurprised by the latest attempt hatched by malcontents within the Malay ruling party and its political foes that have exhausted their means to take control of Putrajaya.
“It is not surprising, because enemies of Umno, from within and outside of the party are creative, so attempts to topple the PM has been made through various means.
“They have tried personal attacks, now they’re accusing him of stealing the people’s money. But the PM is not shaken,” he said of Umno president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The Umno Supreme council member and Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister said that the culprits’ other attempts did not bear any success and they had to resort to the final option of tabling a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
“Whether they are successful or not is the question. I think the BN MPs are disciplined and there is no reason for them to be swayed,” he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had over the weekend claimed an Umno leader was conspiring with the opposition to topple the Najib administration by gathering signatures for a statutory declaration to express majority support for a no-confidence vote in Parliament.
Zahid, who is also Umno vice-president, had refused to name the alleged party traitor although he had excluded predecessor and former deputy minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He also vetoed the possibility of 20 BN lawmakers named by several blogs under the title “the usual suspects” behind the plot, including six Sabah MPs: Umno’s Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, Datuk Rahim Bakri, Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin, Datuk Raimie Unggi, Upko’s Datuk Marcus Mojigoh and Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin.
Rahim, Bung, Mojigoh and Ewon have since publicly denied their involvement with the plot.
Abdul Rahman said that it was a “naughty” attempt to implicate the Sabahans with no proof.
“It is an insult. Maybe they think that Sabah MPs are easily bought. We have gone through a lot, changed the government and yet we returned to be loyal to BN.
“This is obviously a naughty move but I believe it will not go anywhere,” he said.
