Manoj Kurup from the Attorney General’s Chambers said Morais’ passing has given renewed zeal and dedication for justice to be served. "The renewed zeal is not only for Kevin but for every victim that has suffered injustice. "Knowing how Kevin had suffered, it has strengthened our desire to seek justice, " he said He said Kevin was known for his courage and for his willingness to help out his colleagues. "His death is a jarring lost for all of us," he said, as some of Morais’ colleagues were seen visibly wiping away tears.

Others had to leave the Church of Divine Mercy hall to compose themselves. Kurup said Morais was loved by his colleagues as he genuinely cared for them.

Also in attendance were staff from the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission and Bar Council members. Morais’ remains are still at Kuala Lumpur Hospital mortuary as his family members had requested for a second post mortem to ascertain the cause of death. Morais was abducted on the morning of September 4 by several men. His remains were found on Sept 16 in a cement-filled oil drum. On Monday, six men were charged with his murder while an army doctor and mechanic were charged with abetment over the killing. Their cases will be mentioned on November
